A fresh new Website has been setup exclusively for my DIY projects, Electronics experiments , Analog Synthesizer repair and Modular Synthesizer design. Vintage IC' s shop has moved as well .
This project comes in very handy when you need to produce matched pair of npn transistors. All about it and how it works plus the original design can be found here.
Here you can see the finished Transistor matcher .
Again, I was in need of a nicely matched pair of npn transistors . But the method I was previously using by oldcrow was just not High-Tec for me anymore. Plus I wanted to test new and interesting designs when I found the schematic on electronicdesign.com. It would require to hook up a function generator with 10Vpp that generates the 1Hz triangle signal. Now I can imagine that not everybody has such a wondeful instrument laying around. Plus there would be more cables and stuff .I like things kept simple . So I designed the triangle signal before the actual transistor compare circuit. The XR2206 is a very common IC for that purpose. Sure, we could have solved it with an OP-Amp generating a triangle at 1Hz. But the idea was to have steardy IC's that are common and for that purpose mainly.
This design has been made to be milled with my PCB-Mill CNC machine.GCode is in the ZIP archive included. Square pads, wide traces, spread parts etc. I was testing my CNC at the same time with this project.
For the enclosure I found a very neat box made out of aluminium from my local electronic dealer.Of course you can design it in another enclosure.
